Selama ini Rick dan kelompoknya selalu berpindah-pindah, dari rumah ke rumah lain, dari satu kota ke kota lain, mereka mencoba untuk mencari tempat aman dimana mereka bisa menetap. Sayangnya persenjataan dan ransum mereka mulai menipis, Lori yang akan melahirkan, juga tidak lagi bisa berpindah-pindah dari satu tempat ke tempat lain. Ketika memutuskan untuk mencoba satu area yang belum pernah mereka jelajahi, secara tidak sengaja mereka menemukan sebuah penjara.

Tentunya seperti tempat lain, penjara ini juga dipenuhi oleh para Walker, tapi hanya ada sedikit walker yang ada di area halaman, dan area ini mudah dikontrol karena dikelilingi oleh pagar yang kokoh. Walaupun persediaan amunisi semakin menipis tapi Rick dan kawan-kawan memutuskan untuk menyerbu masuk dan membunuh semua walker yang ada, mengingat Lori membutuhkan tempat aman untuk melahirkan bayi, dan penjara tentunya memiliki persediaan makanan, obat, bahkan gudang senjata. Dengan sedikit kesusahan Rick dkk akhirnya berhasil membunuh para Walker dan menguasai area halaman. Malam itu untuk pertama kalinya mereka bisa tidur dengan nyenyak.
